More info Some eagle-eyed I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers have spotted the 59-year-old has been sporting an arm patch, which some have wrongly assumed is a nicotine patch. Some ITV fans who know more about the Coronation Street icon have explained that Sue suffers from diabetes, so it’s likely she’s wearing a glucose monitor. The actress was rushed to hospital from the Coronation Street set back in 2011 after she collapsed on set due to her condition. A spokesperson for Coronation Street told Mail Online at the time: “Sue felt ill on set and was taken to hospital as a precaution.” The condition is a common one that causes the levels of sugar in the blood to become too high. Speaking in support of Diabetes Week in the past, Sue told Diabetesadvice.co.uk advised: “Having good control of diabetes is really important – after all, people with the condition live with it every day, taking care of their diet and physical activity levels.” Last year, Sue’s soap co-star Simon Gregson took part in the ITV reality show she is taking art in. He went on to be crowned runner-up of I’m A Celebrity, narrowly losing to Emmerdale star Danny Miller. The actress revealed she’d joined the series to “shake things up” before she celebrates her milestone 60th birthday next year. She told viewers: “I realised I needed something that would challenge me and I thought this show would be good – and so that’s why I am doing it.” Many fans of the show have already praised Sue’s attitude on the show, but several have complained the actress doesn’t get enough air time. The singer was in two minds about remaining on the reality show after explaining how ill his mother had been during the pandemic and the fact he hadn’t been able to visit her. He later told some of his campmates: “I don’t know what it’s going to be like, I don’t know whether I…. I actually don’t really know if I want to be here.” Sue persuaded George to sleep o the big decision and tried to reassure him of the situation. “Look, why he came in and what he’s doing here. It’s not our responsibility. And it’s not for us to take on.” See today’s front and back pages, download the newspaper, order back issues and use the historic Daily Express newspaper archive.
