Sky Sports forced to apologise again for players swearing in Newcastle vs Sheff Utd as curse is …

SKY SPORTS were forced to make another apology today for swearing heard during Newcastle’s win over Sheffield United. This comes after microphones picked up expletives in Friday’s match between Norwich and Southampton. And there was more swearing in today’s match at St James’ Park. With no fans present and fake crowd noise optional, viewers have been able to hear everything going on since the Premier League’s return. Fans watching at home were quick to point out the swearing on social media. One fan had this to say when a stray pass from Sheffield United’s Oliver Norwood led to an explicit outburst. “Loving the football without the crowd noise… teaching my little girl new words,” he tweeted. “Loving the Newcastle v Sheffield United match. Not the football, which is lamentable, but the swearing, clear as a bell and hilariously loud,” tweeted another fan. Another tweeted: “If you are watching football there’s every chance you’re going to hear swearing. This apologising all the time is annoying.” Some fans poked fun at the computer-generated crowd noise heard in Villa’s 0-0 draw with Sheffield United – the Prem’s first game back. One said the fake atmosphere played through TV speakers was worse than the ear-splitting vuvuzelas heard during the 2010 World Cup. And goal celebration sounds being played for saves left many bemused on social media. Borussia Dortmund were among the sides to have fake noise played in their games on the Bundesliga’s return from the coronavirus pandemic. But some fans there chose to mute the TV because the sounds were “too weird”.
